Which Game Console Is For You?

Don't Fight Their War
When it comes to game console reviews, you are most likely too see things like 'The Game Console Showdown!' or 'The Next-Gen Console War!', and it's exciting for us hardcore gaming enthusiasts! But what about the average player just hoping to get the best console for their needs at the right time? Now maybe you might have milked every bit of your old PlayStation 2, and finally decided to move on to the other side of the fence. Or maybe you already own either a Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360, or PlayStation 3 and are just curious if it's worth the chunk of cash to experiment with something new, and embrace the hype? I'll quickly chop up each console to help you decide which migration might suit your needs better.
Xbox 360
One thing screamed out to me more then all the other consoles combined. Online Multiplayer!! Microsoft played their cards right under this console and created a great atmosphere to enjoy online gameplay with your friends. Xbox Live costs money to play, but what you get is well worth it. Customize your own avatar, share your achievements with friends, update game status through facebook, set up a group of friends to watch a movie with you on netflix, it's just a ton of fun.
Picture yourself playing a game of Fable 2 on your Xbox Live account, you notice a blip appear on your screen with your friends gamertag requesting to join your game. Here you were just about getting bored with exploring the single player world for a while and felt like putting the controller down and chalk this up too another game you'll have to have time and interest in completing. But wait, your friend joins your game as a cooperative player! Now with a helping hand and someone to talk too, this opens up the game a whole new way! And your friend didn't even have to drive over. Psh.
The point is, Xbox 360 is a great experience for anyone looking for the chance to play online amongst friends, or even make new ones.
Another preference to some, is the Xbox 360 controller. Many First-person based shooters are migrating onto console games, and for some gamers, the controller is very important. Button lay out, sensitivity, etc. The Xbox 360 controller is a great comfort for games like FEAR, and Call Of Duty series. Especially during online play you don't want to be left as the easy kill constantly looking up at the sky running around aimlessly.
PlayStation 3
Alright so lets get the obvious thing pushed to the side, Blu-Ray. Yes. Blu-ray is awesome. The picture quality and sound is the best out there right now. It's great to amp up your system, and show off your HDTV with top of the line quality. But this system can't hold the blu-ray player up like a trophy anymore. Other consoles have Netflix streaming HD movies, and the question of 'Blu-ray or not?' has been answered with a shrug of the shoulders.
The Playstation 3 is a powerful system with it's video games carrying it's reputation. Any fanboy can argue the fight of Xbox 360's exclusive video games against the Playstation 3's all day long. But from a single player point of view, the Playstation 3 satisfies.
That's right, "single player" is my key opinion here with the Playstation 3. For anyone who has no interest in experiencing their games with others will wrap their arms around this system as if it's all they'll ever need. And why wouldn't they? Exclusive titles like Uncharted 2: Among Theives, and God of War 3 shed hours of entertainment. The content of these titles are a lot like epic movies that the player just has to move the joystick through to experience, with occasional skill of timing, and shooting involved.
I owned a Playstation 3 long before I obtained an Xbox 360. It left me satisfied for a long time, even as a fanboy, arguing over the PS3 vs. Xbox 360 graphics dilemma (which in my opinion their graphics are pretty balanced). I still enjoy my Playstation 3 for my moments of desiring uninterrupted single player campaigning.
But we can't discredit the Playstation 3 for having no multiplayer privileges. I managed to take Grand Theft Auto 4 on a multiplayer ride across the PS3's free online landscape for a few hours of fun. But it was short lived with it's lack of a pull into the multiplayer environment.
Nintendo Wii
This console has a lot of perks but not enough pull for the hardcore gamer. But don't let that turn your head, this console will suck you in faster then Kirby's Dreamland (ha, c'mon, that was cute.)!
Who can forget the hype from this console. Lines went out store doors for people to get their hands on it. It's innovated controller which required physical involvement was revolutionary and has since been recreated in each consoles own way (ea. Xbox 360 Kinect; Playstation Move). But is this something worth having around the house? Does this console serve any gamers satisfaction?
It's hard to give anyone an honest answer as to whether or not to own a Nintendo Wii if you don't already. You may share a moment of interest after a great night over a buddies house playing him in some intense bowling, baseball, or ping pong. But that interest is likely to be diffused the moment you plop down on your couch with your Xbox 360 or PS3 controller in hand.
This console hasn't shared as much enthusiasm lately, and may become 'That Console' that is borrowed from a friend for a party, and your friend will be likely to loan it too you considering it's possibly been collecting dust since he's been on the computer playing World of Warcraft: Cataclysm.
But what about the Wii Fit? Well, unless you feel confident in the Wii Fit too help you work out, I suggest this console be left as a hand-me-down, or a 'let me borrow it'. There just hasn't been much happening with the Wii that can encourage any normal gamer to buy it in good conciseness to use it regularly.

My review is strictly opinionated towards what I feel a normal gamer would be interested in. There are many different personal preferences each individual may share. These consoles are changing and evolving all the time every year. They might even become replaced by a newer updated model. Who knows what Sony, Nintendo or Microsoft are planning. But it's definitely safe to say that this is only but the beginning of innovated gaming, and we can only help but too look forward to what the future has in store.
